Mitakihara Original is a fan-written story set in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica universe. Through Twitter, a dedicated group of role-players creates stories following the daily lives of a group of teenagers dealing with the consequences of a hard truth they discover. Every player takes control of a character they created and writes storylines of their own, or with other players. All these plotlines are weaved together with a lot of improvisation to tell a tale unlike that of many other roleplaying efforts.

On this website, the entire Mitakihara Original adventure is available for reading from the start of Act II. Act I, which is set four years before Act II has sadly enough been lost in the limbo of the Internet, but a detailed summary, as well as a load of other information and trivia, can be found on the Mitakihara Original Wiki.   • How do I read the backlog?

    • Click a date in the sidebar to see all Mitakihara Original tweets that were posted that day, in chronological order. The tweets read like a play; on the left side you see the name of the character who is saying or doing something. Arrows point to the characters who are addressed and + signs indicate characters who are involved or present at the conversation.

    • Conversations happen simultaneously, so a little effort is required to know who is talking to whom sometimes. However, we are working on a method to read individual conversations sorted by date.

  • Do I need to have watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica?

    • Mitakihara Original uses terms, lore and the setting from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, yet assumes the events from said show never occurred. No characters from Puella Magi Madoka Magica - with the exception of Kyubey - appear, and no knowledge of the lore is presupposed. Do keep in mind that many of the secrets about magical girls and their enemies, witches, of the Madokaverse are revealed in Mitakihara Original. Reading Mitakihara Original might spoil this fantastic anime for you, so be warned.

  • Does Mitakihara Original contain a lot of violence/sex/bad language/drug taking?

    • As everything in Mitakihara Original is written, calling it ‘NSFW’ would be a huge overstatement. That said, Mitakihara Original was conceived as a ‘mature’ roleplaying project. This, however, does not mean we shamelessly wallop in sex and violence. We are not “mature” for the sake of being “mature”. In Mitakihara Original, violence, sex, swearing, drug taking and whatever other things one might find objectionable all happen for a reason.

  • Who drew the art for the avatars of the Mitakihara Original characters?

    • The Act II avatars were all drawn by an artist named Sawasawa, with the exception of Moriko and some side characters. Sawasawa can be found on pixiv, or on his blog.

  • Why the hell is everyone in Mitakihara Original a lesbian?

    • Because yuri is hot.
